MAY, Ralph Norman
Norm passed away peacefully on December 18, 2013. Norm was born September 20, 1924 in Vancouver, B.C. His parents Fred and Mary (Minnie) May farmed in East Richmond where he grew up. On his 18th birthday in 1942 he signed up with the Air Force. He became a Flying Officer First Class one week before his 19th birthday. He wanted to see action in Europe but was chosen to continue to teach others to fly. He married his first wife, Beverly (Weaver), in 1948 and moved to No. 8 Road in Richmond where they raised their family. He was predeceased by Bev in 1976 and his brother Duncan in 2010.
After many years of farming cranberries and buying cattle for various ranchers, Norm retired. He then enjoyed many years at the Vernon Golf Club with his golfing buddies. Norm will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years Rose (Sanesh) May who still resides in their Vernon home. Norm is survived by his four children, Ralph (Judy), Louise (Ron), Diane (Gord) and Bruce (Bonnie), and his grandchildren Warren, Lindsay, Spencer, Michelle, Christy, Scott, Natalie and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother John May and sister Rosemary Ferguson as well as Rose’s children Tanya and Rick and their children Marina, Wells, Aurora and Colton. There will be a celebration of life at Mayfair Lakes, Richmond, BC on Jan. 31st from 2PM to 5PM. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the George Derby Centre, Richmond Hospital Foundation or a Charity of your choice.
