March 27, 1950 - January 14, 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Randall Kirk Strang on January 14, 2021 at the age of 70. Randy was the caring husband of Elaine (née Mickelson), father to Richelle, Sean (Brittany), Lauren, Nicole (Scott), and a proud, happy grandpa to Simone, Adair, Gavin, Chloe, and Camille. He was the loved brother of Bill (Nancy) and Sylvia (Doug), and uncle to many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Marjorie.
Randy was born in Windsor, Ontario. He moved to the Okanagan in his twenties, eventually settling in Vernon, finding enjoyment in the valley skiing and playing baseball. He built a career working at IRL International Truck Centre.
Randy was a lifelong golfer and could often be found at Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club enjoying the game and the company. His hobby took him to provincial and national golfing championships, and he was proud of his several holes-in-one. For many years, Randy and Elaine have been members and volunteers in the Vernon Jazz Club, with Randy holding the position of President upon passing.
When not swinging a club or tapping his foot to live music, Randy enjoyed gardening, camping, working on projects around the house, barbecuing, and laughing. Never one to sit idly by, Randy used his retirement to try new things like joining a pool league and travelling with his friends on golf adventures. Randy loved people—he loved his family and friends and any chance to enjoy the company of others.
We lost Randy suddenly, following a fall. As we grapple with the sudden loss, we are touched by all the people reaching out and the connections Randy had made with his community. He truly was a memorable, happy, helpful man and will be dearly missed.
