Raymond Francis Eastwood

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Francis Eastwood, on Friday November 27th 2009 at the Vernon Hospice House. Ray was born in London England on May 25th 1922; he immigrated to Canada in 1948 where he met the love of his life Frances in Toronto, Ontario. They were married October 11th 1952. Together they raised six children. The lure of the west was strong. The cross Canada trek by car in 1959 with four children under the age of six was in keeping with his sense of adventure. Ray operated a motor repair shop in North Vancouver for thirteen years. His customers would follow him wherever he would move to, and that was often. The family moved to Falkland in 1972. His love for tennis led him to move to Vernon where he drove school bus until his retirement. He loved the outdoors, tennis and traveling. Ray shared his love for life with his children; Susan (Bernie), Sandra (Ian), Jennifer (Allen), Jeff, Jill (Randy), and Adrian (Brenda), and his grandchildren; Jodi, Jessica, Nicole, Casey, Kevin, Lindsay and Joel.

By Ray’s request there will be no service.

Memorial donation in Ray’s memory can be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society (3506 27th Ave. Vernon, BC V1T 1S4) or to a charity of your choice. Expression of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via email; vernon@pafs.net.
