In loving memory ~
At a golden age of 96 years Rhoda Grace Fleetwood passed away peacefully at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon, BC. Rhoda is 'Going Home' to be united with her beloved husband Val who passed away in 2018.
Rhoda leaves behind her loving granddaughter Charisse Crane-Baker, her devoted grandson Jaimes Baker. So-in-law Steven Baker and partner Parissa Barani. Charisse's husband Robert Crane and great granddaughter Penelope Crane-Baker. Daughter Davida Wood.
Rhoda was born in Bradford, England. During the WW2 turmoil, Rhoda met Val Fleetwood and remained loyal to him until his return to England after 4 years of separation. Married in 1946 and working and owning their own business, they decided to immigrate to Canada in 1954.
Rhoda was a very talented stenographer for Alcan in Kitimat BC. She and Val later moved to Malakwa where they owned and operated the Cafe on the busy Transcanada Highway. The peak of Rhodas working career was owning two Fleetwood Ladies Wear shops in Sicamous and Salmon Arm. Many people from all parts of BC and Alberta patronized her shops.
Rhoda's spare time hobby was spent singing with The Sicamous Choristers, Salmon Arm Revellers and Shuswap Singers.
In 2018 Val and Rhoda took up residency in the newly constructed THE HAMLETS in VERNON care facility. Rhoda thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of the residents, and the great service provided by the staff .
