Ric (Eric) Denison

We are sad to announce the passing of Ric (Eric) Denison on January 13th, 2023.
Ric was born in the heart of the baby boom on June 2nd, 1954. He is survived by his two sisters Janet (David) Denison, Phyllis Turner (Tom), and his two sons Darcy and Sage (Mother Selina Man).
Ric was born in a simpler time when passenger trains still ran through Vernon. Though his family moved several times as he grew up, including stops in Kelowna, Winnipeg, and Calgary, Vernon and the North Okanagan were always his home. Ric had strong family connections with Denisons on his father's side and Flemings on his mother's side.
After graduating high school in Vernon, Ric moved on to a career that included managing various performing arts - ballet, live theatre, dance companies, and band tours in Toronto, Whitehorse, and the Okanagan.
Most recently, Ric worked at CMHA and Turning Points helping people at a low ebb in their lives with finding and funding housing. Ric had great empathy for people in general and could see potential in his clients regardless of their circumstances. He had a good heart.
Ric was a dog lover, and he owned several, including Labradors, most recently Trooper, and two Irish Wolfhounds, Meg and Finn. He found great joy hiking with them in the hills and community of Killiney Beach on the Westside.
Ric was also an accomplished piper and cook, and most recently took pleasure in devising vegan recipes. He had developed a bit of a specialty in creating tasty desserts which he shared during visits with family in Vernon and Oyama.
Ric's passing was both sudden and shocking, and he has left a large void in the lives and hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life is being held at Killiney Hall, Udell Road (behind the Fire Hall), on June 2nd (Ric's birthday) from 6:00 to 8:00, refreshments served.
