Richard Calvin (Rick) Short was born on December 20th, 1941 in Chilliwack, B.C. and was called Home to be with his Lord on December 30th, 2016, just ten days after celebrating his 75th birthday.

Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joan, to whom he would have been married 40 years on April 30th, 2017; three daughters, Diana-Lee (John) Boyle of Langley, B.C., Kimberley Ann Short-Hannas (Darcy Hannas) of Williams Lake, B.C. and Jenna Mae (Patrick) Bartman of Edmonton, Alberta; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Cherissa-Lynn, Tyler, Jarred, Joel, Mackenzie and Kaynon; two great-grandchildren, Elexia and Jaidan; one sister-in-law, Ragna Short and her family; and one brother-in-law, Rod Collinson and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Adeline; one brother, Lin and one sister, Glenda.

Rick worked at various jobs during his lifetime. He was a mechanic, had his own trucking business, was a driver for Greyhound and lastly was a Paramedic, from which he retired in 1988.

Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Rick’s Life which will be held at the Vernon Alliance Church on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Will Wiens officiating. We, Rick’s family wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Silver Springs Seniors Residence and Gateby Care Centre for the care given to Rick during the early years of his illness and then to Polson Special Unit for the outstanding care provided during the past two years of his life. We are grateful for all that you did for us in making Rick’s final years comfortable.
