Richard “Dick” Phelps French passed away peacefully in Polson Extended Care Facility on January 7th, 2009 at the age of 89 years.
He lived his life in Vernon, was born on Broadview ranch in Vernon, was actively involved in the community throughout his life and was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many hours riding, hunting, snowmobiling, trapping, fishing, and in later years enjoyed golfing and telling stories.
Dick is survived by his loving family: two daughters, Percy-Ann (Jerry) Urquhart of Kelowna and Fran (Dennis) Sponholz of Vernon; two sons, Brant French of Vancouver and Duff (Julie) French of Cochrane, Alberta; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, Beverley Hughes of Vancouver; several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mabel in 2005.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21st, 2009 at the Schubert Centre with a reception to follow.
