Rita passed away peacefully in the arms of our Lord on July 11, 2020 at the Creekside Care home.
Rita was a loving friend, wife, step mother, daughter and sister. She was married to Andrew Carmichael, and sister to Faye, Dana, Jenny (Barry) and Don (Nancy).
She leaves behind step family Lyn, David and Greg, nieces, nephews and many friends and ex work colleagues.
Rita and Andy were very well known at their strata complex at Winston Place and their neighbours, Marie & Jim, Angie & Jim, Donna, Michael & Rosemary, Joan & Ken and all treated them like gold, bringing meals and snacks, flowers, and the occasional glass of wine when all else failed.
Rita loved Vernon and especially the Vancouver Canucks and BC Lions. When games were on she would never answer the phone, even from family.
Polson Park, Okanagan and Kal lakes were her absolute favourite spots to visit and enjoy some sunshine.
Rita trained as a nursing-aide in Calgary, then went to Medicine Hat, Innisfail, then finally to Vernon where she worked at the Jubilee Hospital for 32 years before finally retiring.
As per Rita's request, there will be no services.
