RITA DORIS SALTER (nee Williamson) … Beloved mother of Carol (Paul) Caldwell and William (Linda) Salter, passed away 11th of January 2004. Rita was predeceased by her husband Alfred (Fred) Salter, her brothers Ellard Williamson and Francis (Frank) Williamson. She leaves to mourn her passing, sister Doreen Brown (nee Williamson), 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Rita started her life’s journey 26 September 1919 in Vancouver, but spent her early years growing up in Vernon. She continued her education at St. Ann’s Academy in Kamloops and later worked in the accounting department for Nicholson’s printing in Vancouver, Rita and Fred lived in various locales throughout BC and the United States until retirement settled them in Celista for a number of years before finally moving to Kelowna. Rita will be fondly remembered for her entertaining sense of humor and unique style as well as her talents as a seamstress. She embraced life with enthusiasm, deep faith and enduring strength. Rites of Christian burial will be performed at the St. James Catholic Church Tuesday, January 20th, 2004 at 1000 hr. with Father Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory may be made to the Vernon Women’s Transition House Society. Arrangements entrusted with FIRST MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES, Kelowna 250-762-2299.
