Robert was born in Regina, SK on Friday the 13th in March, 1931 and passed away on December 27th, 2016. Dad loved his sports. He played junior football in Regina and was proud to have signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders until sidelined by an injury. Dad was the consummate Rider fan and he bled green and if you knew him you would likely end up with something with a Rider logo. In his later years, golf became his passion and he formed so many wonderful friendships with “the boys” at Spall. He ran his own tournament, the “Hewie Invitational” for years and loved to hand out the green jacket. Dad worked almost 50 years with NEDCO, mostly as manager, with Charlie, his dog, as assistant manager. Even after retirement he couldn’t stay away! Hewie enjoyed life to the fullest and gave back to his community through his work over many years with the Lions Club, the Centennial Committee and the Summer games and anytime someone asked for his help. Dad was predeceased by his first wife, Adrienne, in 1984, her sister, Dorothy (Bill, his “brother”) and his second wife, Edna, in 2004. He is survived by his four children, David, Shannon (Campbell), Jill, Leslie (Kelly), and his two grandchildren, Drew and Nicole (Logan). He is further survived by his niece Erin, and nephew, Kelly, and his three step-sons, Brent, Jim (Bell), David and two step-grandchildren, Brock and Lacy (Jeff) and his three great grandchildren, Parker, Kellan and Jake. Many thanks to his dear friends, too many to name but to those that visited him, brought chocolates and brought some laughs, especially Bill and Les, we thank you. And we wish to thank the entire staff on 2E/w AND 3N, who treated Dad so wonderfully over the last 5 months. A celebration of Dad’s life will be held later this spring … and there will be many ‘Hewies to be had!

“A man’s most lasting influence on the world is seen in the faces of his family …in the light in their eyes when they talk about him… in they love they’ll hold forever.. Here’s to a good man, the life he lived, the hearts he touched, the legacy he left behind with us.”
