DAVIS
Robert Charles Davis, a resident of Vernon, was born at Three Hills, Alberta on October 3rd, 1921 and passed away in Vernon, on May 28, 2003 at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his loving wife Sue of Vernon, son Ken (Lin), grandson Luke (Stephanie), nephew Jim (Betty) Davis and many cousins in Alberta, extended family and friends. Bob moved his family to California in 1956, then took a position with Xerox in Hawaii, moving next to Oregon, and retiring at Vernon in 1969. He requested no funeral service wishing his passage to be a happy time, recalling good memories and enjoying each day preparing for life after life, meeting loved ones in heavenly realms. Bob was a man of good humour, delighting in restoring clocks or anything that needed fixing. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles E. and Mabel Rollis Davis, three siblings, George at age 37, James at 17 and Florence at 51. Enough cannot be said about the “over and above” kind, loving care exemplified by the staff at Gateby. the last decade of his life he was coping with Parkinsons disease caused by chemical sprays in work place. He spent just over three years at Gateby with daily visits from his wife who lived near by. Guided by Gateby nurses overseer Marliss Magas, a wonderful and efficient group moves with grace through three daily shifts leaving in their wake beautiful memories. A celebration of life is planned at such time as vacationing relatives can be located. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Salvation Army or a favourite charity.
