Robert Edward “Bob” James passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 1st, 2004 at the age of 73 years, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Bob remained very positive and courageous to all those around him. Bob was the founder, owner / operator of Giant Industries (1975) and Canada Water Depot (1998). Bob is survived by his loving wife Hazel, seven children, Elaine (Dale), Marilyn (Steve), Deborah (Len), Cheryl, Ken (Susanne), Frank (Bernice) and Wendy (Carey), fourteen grandchildren, Kent, Natalie, Bobbi, Mindy, Kristy, Shannon, Shayla, Jeffrey, Eddie, Denise, Brandy, Dexter, Clayton and Sean, three great grandchildren, Bryanna, Jade and Madisyn, three brothers, Bill (Heather), Jerry (Norma), George (Karen), two sisters, Dorothy and Betty. Bob was predeceased by his parents, one sister Irene and one grandson Brandon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 8th, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. from the Trinity United Church with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. A reception will follow in the Trinity United Church Hall.
