In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Dad who passed away peacefully, in his 67th year, on Friday, July 7th, 2023, at 10:27 a.m. at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.
Predeceased by his father Ernie and his mother Phyllis. Survived by his brothers Terry (Linda), and Kelly (DJ) and his sister Donna-Lee (Paul). Leaving behind his 'three girls', Sarah, Melissa (Eric) and Lindsay (Steven). Admired by his six treasured grandchildren, Alyssia, Matthew, Lukas, Niko, Jessika and Avery. Uncle to Bradley, Brittany, Robert and Vicki. A nephew and a cousin.
Bob was born and raised in Vernon, British Columbia where he excelled in soccer and enjoyed playing chess throughout his high school years. He loved the outdoors and staying active and fit. Much of his pastime was spent skiing, playing baseball, biking on the rail trail, hiking, camping, fishing and canoeing.
He was intelligent in mathematics, which led to his career as a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local Union 105 once he relocated to Hamilton, Ontario. His later years were spent working for PRL Guyatt Electrics Ltd. until he was diagnosed with a rare medical condition in 2016.
Bob found refuge at Westside Baptist Church during a difficult part of his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. The Bible became his guide to life and purpose, providing a firm foundation built on unconditional love, mercy and grace. That to which he extended to all those around him. He never hesitated to do things for the benefit and goodwill of others. He was a faithful servant.
Our Dad was an incredible man who loved us deeply. He was the definition of pure and genuine love. He was optimistic even in the most challenging times, putting his best self forward. Always humble and kind. He had an infectious smile and contagious laugh. We will forever miss his kind voice, his patient ear, his gentle teachings filled with such wisdom and compassion, his helping hand, his warm embrace, his mustache kisses and his goofy jokes! We were so proud of our dad and we were blessed to have had him in our lives, as short as that time was.
Bob will be laid to rest in the summer of 2024 next to his parents in Vernon, B.C. Please reach out to family members if you would like to attend.
In his memory, we ask you to share random acts of kindness to honour the man he was.
Jesus answered him,
"Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise."
