Robert Harry (PA) Rowland Stowards passed away at Polson North Extended Care, Vernon, on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
Harry was born on January 11, 1918, at his home on Grandview Bench. He moved to the Fraser Valley in 1947 to be with the women he loved and started his first Dairy Farm in the Abbotsford area. Later they bought their first home on Hawkins-Pickle Road in Dwedney where they raised their family. Harry, Babe and the family moved back to Mara in 1966, where he continued to Dairy Farm. Harry loved farming, watching the Montreal Canadians and spending time with his family. In his later years he raised chickens and delivered eggs around the Enderby area. Harry was well known in the area for his stubborn personality and his Irish ways. Harry was predeceased by the love of his life, Kathleen (Babe); sisters Patsy Donaldson, Marion Ryan and Renee Ewing; brother Dick Stowards and two grandchildren. He leaves to mourn his passing five sons and four daughters – Shirley (Otto) Freudenhaller of Vernon, Walter (Judy) Crandlemire of Grindrod, Terry (Judy) Crandlemire of Enderby, Wendy (Rod) Burke of Enderby, Sharon (Andy) Bannick of Grindrod, Wayne (Lori) Crandlemire of Enderby, Leonard (Jacqui) Stowards of Armstrong, Lynn (Lyle) Lutz of Mara and Robert (Tina) Stowards of Armstrong; sister Rita Vatkin of Salmon Arm; brothers Kenny and Harold Stowards of Quesnel; twenth-six grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2008, at Cliffside Cemetery, Enderby.
Following the service a tea will be held at the Mara Hall, Mara.
