ROBERT JAMES PARK

December 15, 1925 – May 12, 2004

Robert grew up in the Rocky Mountain House area, served with the infantry in the second-world war. He returned to Rocky where he owned a bulk oil business as well as farmed in the area before retiring to Vernon in 1981.

Rob or Bob as he was called also served as a town councilor in Rocky, with the Kinsmen, K-40, as a sea cadet leader, as a founding member for the Pine Hills Golf course, the Masonic Lodge, member of the Schubert Center (for almost 20 years) and served as a director, the board of the MD of the Clearwater, the cubs and scouts, 4-H and participated in numerous actives for his children.

Bob was best described by one of his nephews who said, “I have always found it hard to be around Rob and not have a good time. His sense of humour and playfulness are the things that I most treasure.”

Bob passed away quietly at home in Vernon leaving behind his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy, son Layton (Myrna) of Kelowna, Patricia Harper (Ross) of Calgary, Darline Scott (Rueben) of Lumby, and Lori Barton (Brian) of Vernon.

Bob is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who he truly enjoyed.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Ken in 1971 and Gladys in 1982 and his brothers; Layton 1932, Marvin 1957, Arlan 1998, Howard 2002, and sister Verona 1969. He leaves behind his brothers Wes of Edmonton., Dale of Bentley and sister Verna of Sylvan Lake.

Services will be held at Schubert Centre at 11:00am on Saturday, May 15. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice House, the Red Cross or the charity of your choice.
