August 21, 1939 - October 21, 2022
We are deeply saddened with the passing of Robert John Vandenborre at Hospice House on October. 21, 2022. He was born on August. 21, 1939 to Fernand and Minnie Vandenborre.
Robert married the love of his life Velma on May 2, 1960 and they had three daughters Gloria (Terry) Fedick, Denice (Mike) Melchart and Carrie (Darren) Reich. He had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that he adored, they were all very special to him. He also had his grand dogs that he loved dearly.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, wife Velma in 2021, his half brother Walter Peterson, his brothers Ernest (Nicky) and Donald (Dag).
Robert is survived by his sisters Lucille Churchill, Ruth (Wes ) Farynuk and brother James (Elaine).
Dad was a logger for most of his life, starting at the age of 14, with his brother and Dad in and around the Armstrong area. He and his brother had a logging company up north for several years.
In 1977 he and his family returned to Armstrong, where he downsized just having one logging truck. Dad was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed tinkering on everything, he also had amazing carpentry skills. He was a perfectionist at what ever he did.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping very much. He really enjoyed camping trips to his favorite lake, Janice Lake, especially when his grandchildren were along!
He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage and doing jigsaw puzzles. He grew a wonderful vegetable garden for years and in the last few years he really enjoyed growing his amazing roses. Dad and Mom went on several gambling trips that they thoroughly enjoyed.
They both enjoyed country music and live performances they attended Merritt music festival for several years. The most memorable and talked about was Charlie Pride.
He was truly an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather he will be dearly missed by everyone that was fortunate to have him be apart of their lives.
