Robert Leigh (Pete) Hunt passed away peacefully on Aug. 28, 2006 in Polson North, Vernon Jubilee Hospital in his 80th year. His wife, Muriel, of 58 years and family were by his side. He will be greatly missed by his 5 children, Vivian (Martin), Stan (Carol), Brian (Susan), Barb (Jim) and Jadine (Cory). He also leaves to mourn his 9 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Howard (Shirley), sister-in-law Mable, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Ken and Allen.
Pete was born in Pine Creek, Manitoba and moved as a young man to Abbotsford, B.C. He played soccer, baseball and basketball. He worked for the cannery in Mission until his move to the Okanagan in 1958. He was the superintendant at Bulman’s Cannery until its closure. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sports fan and enjoyed many family camping adventures. He also played softball in the over 55 slowpitch league and was part of the summer games team.
A celebration of life tea will be held Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Bethel Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to Polson North or the Alzheimer Society.
