Robert Falcon Scott
Dec. 25th, 1950 – May 19th, 2006
We regret to announce the passing of Bob Scott, who courageously fought a losing battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born in New Westminister on Christmas morning. Bob moved to the BX area at the age of 3. He started his early education at a local private school then moved to Harwood Elementary, on to Seaton Jr. High, Fulton Sr. High and finishing at VSS. He then took further education at Kelowna while working at Star Auto Body. Following that, he went to work at what is now Tolko in Armstrong and had been employed there for the past 31 years. During this period he was also a member of the BX Swan-Lake Fire Department and had his own Bobcat business.
Bob was an honest and generous man who always told it like it was. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and a true and loyal friend.
Bob will be greatly missed by his wife, and best friend of 35 years, Ruby, by his children, Nicholas (Tracy) of Ottawa, Tish of Calgary, his mother Fay Scott of Vernon, his brother Skip (Maeva) of Falkland and extended families.
Bob was predeceased by his father Wilfred Selwyn Scott in 2002.
Vernon Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and there will be no funeral at Bob’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vernon Hospice House.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Latham and staff, palliative care workers and the Vernon Hospice House, Dave Welder, friends and co-workers for the assistance they have provided in so many ways. They have all helped to keep us strong.
The family will be hosting an informal gathering in honour of Bob at the Schubert Centre on Monday, May 22nd between two and four p.m. The family would like to extend an invitation for friends to drop by and share stories.
