ROBERT WESLEY GARBUTT born December 31, 1917 in Vernon, passed away peacefully at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Coquitlam, B.C. on Tuesday, September 19, 2005 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by four brothers, two sisters and by his wife Myrtle in 1999. Survived by brother Mel (Dorothy) Garbutt of Vernon, sisters-in-law Kay Garbutt of Nanoose, Doris Thompson of Penticton and Ramona Clegg of Coquitlam. Also survived by stepdaughters Muriel (Phil) Matte of Nanaimo and Jean (Lou) Brook of Coquitlam. He leaves 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a WWII veteran serving in Canada and Overseas from 1939 to 1946, latterly with the Duke of Connaughts Own Rifles. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. A celebration of life will be held at Coquitlam Christian Centre, 2665 Runnel Drive, Coquitlam, B.C. at 1:00pm, October 15, 2005. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Society would be appreciated.
