In Loving Memory ~
Rod had a kind and generous heart. He would give anyone the shirt off his back and he often helped those less fortunate around him. When he was young, Rod and his sister Kealey would fish off the dock with mason jars and twine that their dad, Rod Sr. had rigged up. Rod Jr. became proficient at slalom water skiing, downhill snow skiing, windsurfing and sailing.
Rod bravely faced the challenges of his disability, schizophrenia, and lived an independent life. Rod was proud of his work which included flooring and carpet laying; cleaning and yard maintenance at a local hotel; and driving a recycling truck. He enjoyed playing his guitar as much as drinking his beer.
On Rod's 60th birthday in March, he repeatedly said, "It's a damn good life!" and he meant it. Rod died of a heart attack peacefully in his sleep.
Rod is predeceased by his two loving parents Rod and Colleen.
Rod will be deeply and forever missed by his sister Kealey and brother-in-law Mike, niece Emerald, nephew Kelt, and his friends.
With great appreciation, the family thanks Don Lea and John and Chase Meausette for their love, friendship and support of Rod.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2:00 p.m. at the Mackie Lake House, 7804 Kidston Road, Coldstream. Please wear what's comfortable for you.
Condolences can be posted on dignitymemorial.com
