Roland C. Foord
“Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth.”
Born May 19, 1923 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. Died March 15, 2007 in Vernon, BC.
Pilot of 50 years beginning at age 17. Served in the R.C.A.F. in WW II. Dropped out of McGill University to follow his bliss and fly for Canadian Pacific Airlines from 1948 through 1983. In retirement took joy in flying his Piper Supercub “Juliet Papa Quebec”.
Beloved husband of 60 years to Elizabeth (Libby) nee Shaw, wonderful Dad to Heather (Brock Bailey), Cathy (Glen Davidson), Jan (Bill Cave) and Jill (Roark Timko) and loving, wise Grandfather to Connor (Ann) and Tessa Bailey, Jayme (Steve Hills) and Ian Davidson, Stephenie and Allister Cave and Gregory and Dana Timko.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pontifex and the 3rd floor staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and especially to Richard and Judy Mori, our cousin Nancy Kurbis and the clowns.
Memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to either the Kelowna Centre for Positive Living or the Vernon Jubilee Hospital would be appreciated.
