March 15, 1965 – May 1, 2009
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roland at the Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 44 on May 1, 2009. Roland was born in Calgary, Alberta. He moved to Vernon with his dad and sister in 1974, where he spent most of his life.
Roland’s passion was music, hunting and sailing. He spent many years helping his dad maintain the family business – Western Marine Gun Trading Post. He also was a very compassionate man and he was always there to help someone in need. Roland spent his last five years dedicated to Vernon Taxi.
Roland was predeceased by his father Robin Lamprecht (2007), his mother Coral Giroux (2007) and his sister Elke Lamprecht (2004).
Roland is survived by his loving children Karissa, Skylar and Rainer and the love of his life, common-law wife Annette O’Dell, all of Vernon and his loving in-laws Betty and Steve Farkasof of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
There was a private viewing for the family on Sunday, May 3. Following Roland’s wishes, there will be no service. There will be a very private casual Celebration of Roland’s Life for family and close friends at a later date. The family would like to acknowledge and give thanks to all the nurses, doctors and staff at the Vernon and Kelowna Hospitals for their compassion and care. Thanks also to the friends who took the time to visit Roland in the hospital and who are continuing to help Annette and the children with their love and support.
