August 24, 1933 - January 22, 2019
Ron was a prairie boy at heart and loved to relive those days on the farm where his shooting abilities were spawned. During the 1960's he was a member of the Canadian Rifle Team competing in Bisley, England for the Commonwealth Championships. In 1968 he won the competition. Ron passed away suddenly at Vernon Jubilee Hospital due to complications following surgery. He will be missed by his loving wife Bobbi, sister Helen Purden (George), daughter Lisa Talbot and son Scott Ranson (Amanda), stepdaughters Dian Wirth (Geoff Nielsen), Lisa Whelan (Gary) and 9 grandchildren. He was predeceased by father Ward, mother Nellie, brother Wallace, first wife Shirlee and son Howard. Ron joined the RCMP in 1953 and had numerous posting in central BC and the Okanagan. Before retiring, he was in the Telecom Branch in Kamloops. He was so proud of setting up a most difficult mountain communication system in the Bugaboos so the PM Pierre Trudeau could take a ski holiday in the 1960's. Post RCMP, he had a small advertising business until final retirement to Vernon in 2007. A celebration of life will be held February 1, 2019 from 2-4 at the Schubert Centre, 3505 30th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in memory of Ron Ranson to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation (2101 32nd Street, Vernon B.C. V1T 5L2). You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's on-line obituary @ www.MyAlternatives.ca.
