Rosa Lena Colombina

1931 – 2012

There is no greater love than that of a mother’s

Rosa Lena left this world suddenly and unexpectedly the morning of November 17, 2012. She was followed later that day by her eldest daughter Pina Rogers who lost her long and courageous battle with cancer. Rosa Lena was born in Valdagno, Vicenza, Italy on June 5, 1931. In 1958 she boarded the ship Saturnia with her young son Giovanni and infant daughter Giusepina (Pina) and started her journey to Canada to be reunited with the love of her life Giuseppe. Youngest daughter Teresa was born in Jasper in 1964. Rosa Lena epitomized the role of Wife, Mother, Nona, and Bis Nona. She loved to cook and would openly welcome anyone to join the family for a meal. Although her daughter and grandchildren have the recipes, Gnocchi and Milk Soup will never taste the same. Rosa Lena created works of art with her hands through sewing, crocheting, and embroidering. Her daughters glowed in their gorgeous wedding dresses. Each stitch lovingly made with their mothers love. Knowing that her daughter Pina was close to death, Rosa Lena stated that “no mother should ever outlive their own child”. Mom’s prayers were granted and Mom left this world so that she could embrace her daughter’s soul six hours later. Rosa Lena is survived by her son John (Ruth) and their children Aaron, Marc, and Tamara (Alvaro); her daughter Teresa (Tom) and their children Sarah and Morgan and son-in-law Ron and his daughters Laura (Rob) and Kathleen (Kye); and her precious great-grandchildren Adam, Emily, and unborn grandson due in February. Rosa Lena has been reunited with her first and only true love Giuseppe and their eldest daughter Pina.

We love you Mom.
