Rose Shannon-Link


Rose passed away suddenly, February 10, 2007, at the age of 62. She was born in London, England June 18, 1944 during a World War II air raid. She and her mother came to Canada on the HMS Mauritania in early 1945. Her father joined her and her Mum at the end of the war. Rose was raised and grew up in the Lower Mainland. Eventually she settled in the Okanagan area. Rose was a successful businesswoman, known from the Richter Petro-Can in Kelowna and the Village Green Esso in Vernon. Rose had a passion for her grandchildren: Melanie, Stephanie, Alexis, Victoria, Katherine and Britain. Rose and husband Ray have enjoyed the past few years in semi-retirement, travelling, being at home with their cats and working. During retirement Rose found new love working with the animals at the Kelowna SPCA, fostering kittens at home to nurture them so they were able to go to good homes. Rose is survived by her husband Ray, and three children: Michael Shannon (Debbie), Kim Shannon (Justin), Brent Shannon, and two stepchildren: Cindy Waite (Ryan) and Calvin Link. Rose also leaves behind two brothers and two sisters: Bev Carmichael, Robert Walker, Harry Walker and Oreen Walker. Rose was predeceased by her Mum, Joyce Walker and Dad, Harry Walker. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 4:00 pm at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kelowna SPCA, 3785 Casorso Road, Kelowna, BC, V1W 4M7. A gift in living memory of Rose will be made to “Holding Hands for Hospice” by Springfield Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting, 250-860-7077.
