Russel Francis Clark of Killiney Beach,B.C., formerly of Prince Albert Sask., died on May 24, 2003, at the age of 83 years. He was born at Donovan, Sask., on July 30, 1919, the eldest child of Harvey Russel and Esther Lorraine Clark. In 1933 he moved with his family to Shell Lake Sask. Born and raised on a farm, he was an ardent outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, and nature photography. He was a member of various Photography clubs and a supporter of many environmental groups. He was predeceased by a brother Alan in 1955, by his first wife Marjorie in 1962, by his father Harvey in 1971, by his mother Esther in 1989 and by a sister Marion in 1994. He is survived by his wife Joyce, by two sons, Jonathan (Tracy) of Calgary, and Lyndon (Lori) of Elko, Nevada, by one daughter Jennifer (Michael Mann) of Red Deer , by a brother Keith (Jean) of Shell Lake, Sask., by one sister Beverly Nesland of Parkside, Sask., by two granddaughters and three grandsons, and by several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by members of Joyce’s family: by her son Byron Olsen of Rudell, Sask., her daughters Joy Olsen of Vancouver, April Olsen of Saskatoon, by Rosemary Olsen of Saskatoon, by her four grandchildren and other members of her family. Russel served in the Canadian Army and on discharge became a journeyman electrician. In 1950 he purchased a farm in Shell Lake, Sask., where he farmed and set up an electrical contracting business. Active in the life and work of the church, he began training for the ministry of the United Church of Canada in 1959. He was ordained by the United Church in 1965. He served four pastoral charges in Saskatchewan: Langham, Coronach-Clydesdale-Willow Bunch, Quill Lake-Watson-Leroy, and Nisbet Memorial-Spruce Home in Prince Albert. In 1977 he was invited to join the staff of the United Church’s National Office in Toronto where he served as a member of the Stewardship Services Department until his retirement in 1988. A Memorial Service will be held in Trinity United Church, Vernon, at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, May 28th, 2003. Arrangements in care of Vernon Funeral Home, (250)542-0155
