November 13, 1948-September 29, 2015
With broken hearts and sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, son, Poppa, brother and friend, Russ Headington, at the age of 66 years.
Russ was a man robbed of his dignity, soul and mind by a cruel and crippling disease called Alzheimer’s. No one can understand the magnitude of Alzheimer’s disease unless he or she has been close to it. We have peace knowing that his suffering is over and that we shared so many wonderful memories together as a family.
Russell will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Terry; his daughters Lindsay (Cale), Jill (Brad), Ashley (Jeremy) and Vanessa (Cody). Russ was a proud Poppa to Brooklyn, Hailee, Sydney, Riley, Tylen, Easton, Brady and Marshall. He will be missed by his father Leo, sisters Judy and Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many lifelong friends.
Russell is predeceased by his mother Gaye and his sister Chrissy.
Rusty was born in Vernon, British Columbia on November 13, 1948 and spent his entire life on the farm in Lumby. Russ worked hard his entire life. In addition to his full time job farming, he drove school bus, was a volunteer firefighter, and worked many years in the lumber industry including Riverside, Weyerhaeuser and Paragon Wood Products. An athlete all his life, Russ played basketball, hockey, softball and curled. He formed many close bonds and long lasting friendships with his “buds” during this time. Russ was a kind, gentle and easygoing man who was loved by everyone who knew him. We will miss his sparkling blue eyes and his smile that could always fill up a room.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Polson Special for their tender and loving care of Russ.
A celebration of life will be held at the Whitevalley Community Hall in Lumby on October 9th from 2:00-4:00pm.
