August 9, 1924 – August 8, 2020
Ruth was born on the family farm near Vandura, Saskatchewan on August 9th, 1924 to Arthur and Laura Moore. It was with heavy hearts that her family said goodbye to her on August 8th, 2020 at the North Okanagan Hospice, the day before her 96th Birthday.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Gladys (Glen) Giles of Vernon, B.C., Richard (Bonnie) Hollingsworth of Clive, Alberta, Esther (Ross) Seaby of Lee Creek, B.C., Larry Hollingsworth of Carbon, Alberta and Stewart (Sharon) Hollingsworth of Mission, B.C.; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her nephew, Rob (Diane) Williams of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; two nieces, Stephanie (Gerry) Coldwell of Victoria, B.C. and Loretta (Ernie) Polischuck of Meacham, Saskatchewan and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her parents, Arthur and Laura Moore; two sisters, Olive Zaron and Elsie Williams; one brother, Bob Moore and one nephew, Michael Williams.
Ruth grew up at Vandura, Saskatchewan and in 1944 married Robert James Hollingsworth. They stayed there for the first thirteen years of their marriage, then left and began a new life in Manitoba. After Robert’s death in 1992 Ruth came to Vernon to be close to her two daughters and greatly enjoyed the remaining eighteen years of her life here.
A private Graveside Service was held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Monday, August 17th, 2020 at 11 am with Pastor Dithmar Molzahn officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Ruth to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, the Palliative Care, Home Care and Hospice House for the wonderful, loving care you all gave to Ruth in her final months with us.
