With great sadness we wish to announce the passing of our loving mother and friend, RUTH HATTIE THOMPSON. Ruth was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on Feb. 5, 1921. She was predeceased by her husband Jim Thompson in 1999. Ruth is survived by her only daughter Jayme (Don), 3 sons; Ed, Spencer (Terri) and Tim (Tracey), grandchildren; Darl (Marne), Warren (Amanda), Tanya, Shae, Raymond, Jaymie, Brett Christipher, Jordan, Jaylene, and greatgrandchildren Brody and Sara. She is also survived by brother Russell (Marion) and sister Evelyn, all of Ontario, and many nieces and nephews. In 1943 Ruth started her married life with her husband Jim and his family in Dawson Creek. They started a Coca Cola bottling plant in Dawson Creek and lived there till 1973 when they moved to Vernon. They lived on Kal Lake for 15 years till they moved to Kelowna for a few years. Jim died from Alzheimer’s complications in 1999. Ruth has lived back in Vernon for 5 years, spending her happiest hours on the lake at Mara. Her last years have been socially active at Canterbury Court. She will be missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held from the Chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Henry Friesen officiating. Cremation.
