Ruth Maria Koch

July 28, 1931 - July 17, 2023
Ruth was born on July 28th, 1931 in Gr. Hanswalde, Germany, one of four children born to Emil and Irma Merke. She was called Home to be with her Lord on July 17th, 2023 at the age of 91 years.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her children, Siegrid Krizanowski and Harold (Heidi) Koch; four grandchildren, Jeanine and Sheldon Koch, Annaliese (Jim) McLaughlin and Steffanie (Brenden) Goring; five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Vienna and Ashton Koch, Branten and Lewis Goring; one sister, Edith Hinz; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gunter and two brothers.
Ruth came to Canada from Germany in the early 1950s. She met the love of her life, Gunter and they were married in Vernon, B.C. on January 7th, 1956. Together they resided in Terrace for a few years but came to Vernon where they spent the rest of their lives together working and raising their family.
In respecting Ruth's wishes, she was cremated and will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery beside her husband in the grave of her mother. A Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for Ruth's life will be held on the day of her 92nd Birthday, Friday, July 28th, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. This will take place at the Vernon Church of God (4312-25th Street) with Pastor Gary Glanz officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Ruth to the charity of their choice.
