July 5, 1930 - August 25, 2018
Ruth left us all after 88 years. Her struggles with Parkinson's disease have ended.

Ruth has left to mourn; her husband of 65 years-John, her daughters- Pamela (Steven) and Angela (Volker), her grandchildren-Cassandra, Benny and Ryan, her siblings- Ed, Cliff, Shirley and Bob and their families.

Ruth was born and raised on Vancouver Island, mostly in Shirley, Sooke and Victoria, and moved off the Island to Northern BC with John and their daughters. She moved to the Vernon with John and their youngest over 40 years ago.

Ruth had a career as a librarian in Sooke, Hudson Hope and Vernon BC. She and John volunteered with fire departments, curling clubs, their children's activities and community events. After retirement, Ruth also volunteered as a librarian. In the past few years, she worked hard to take part in a prayer shawl knitting group and to 'piddle around' in the library where she lived. Ruth has a long history of singing and kept it up till the week before she died. She enjoyed singing at home, in church, and with the community where she lived.

Ruth loved, supported and enjoyed her family. She and John visited family over the years in the Kootenays, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Belize and Vancouver Island. Ruth and John made many camping and fishing trips with family and friends all over BC, finding beautiful spots and good fish! They also travelled to Alaska, California and Mexico.

Ruth made many life long friendships and enjoyed these friendships until her last day. In spite of her increasing limitations, Ruth often made a point of reaching out to others to know them and to be kind to them.

Ruth's baking was delicious. Her sewing creations were super. Her humour was rowdy. Her family stories and sayings were SO entertaining! She was mischievous and caring. We will all miss her so much! Peace be with you Ruth, Mom, Auntie, Gramma.

Ruth's funeral mass, September 1, 2018, 2:00 pm, St. James Catholic Church, Vernon BC. Tea and refreshments following mass

A special note of thanks for the help and care of staff for Kaigo homes, at Creekside Landing!
