Ruth Joan Swift

Born Aug. 16, 1923 ~ June 3, 2014

Ruth was born to Barney and Blanche Walmesley in Gravelbourg, Sask. She was one of nine children. Brother Eric, sisters Gladys, Vera, Phyllis, Peggy, Rose, June and Amy.

She is survived by her children Lloyd (Lenore), Donald (Carol), Gerald (Dianne), Joan (Randy); sisters Rose (Jim), June, Amy (Scotty), seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was the first honorary woman member of the Sunday Morners Club of Falkland. She worked cooking in many of the logging camps in the area and restaurants. She was loved and respected by all in the Community.

She was known by many people as the raffle ticket lady. She sold tickets for many organizations in Falkland and Westwold. On any day, she could be found in her office with her friends at the Falkland Pub. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A special thank you to the nursing staff on the second floor of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Falkland Sunday Morners Club, Falkland First Responders or a charity of choice.

Celebration of Life at Falkland Community Hall, Sunday at 12 noon.
