On August 31, 2010, Ruth Todd passed peacefully from this life at the age of 95 in Vernon Jubilee Hospital with family at her side. Born in Pleasant Valley, Saskatchewan, Ruth grew up in Winnipeg where she met her life partner, Lorne. The family moved from Manitoba to British Columbia in 1957 and loved Vernon and living in the Okanagan Valley. They settled here and lived happily for the rest of their lives. Ruth was a life time member of the Catholic Women’s League and did volunteer work for many years in many different capacities. Ruth had a love of reading and was keenly interested in all kinds of history. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Lorne in 1996 and her granddaughter, Clelie in 1978. She continued to enjoy outings and playing bingo with her many friends and people of the Arlington and Columbus Court. She was the oldest of 5 children and outlived all of her siblings and indeed all members of her generation of both families. Ruth is survived by her four children: Arlene (Erich), Diane, Michele (Peter), Jeff (Pat); also 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 4, at 2:00 P.M. at St. James’ Roman Catholic Church, with Father Dale Normandeau, Celebrant.
