Ruth Wannop nee Krause, of Vernon, BC died peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Vernon Memorial Hospital. Born in California October 4, 1928, Ruth was the youngest of four sisters and six brothers. She went on marry James Wannop, a rancher and preacher, and moved to the Cariboo in her early twenties. After his death, she moved to Vernon where she lived with her partner Rudy Kowalski.

Over the years she had many different careers. She was a teacher, a rancher, a secretary, and she ran the Big Lake store and post office. She was an avid volunteer and helped out with Hospice, Caring Clowns, the Red Cross, and Salvation Army. She loved to tole paint, wood carving, go dancing and walk her beloved dog Cinder. She will be remembered as a woman who loved to visit and have a good laugh and who always had time for her family.

Ruth is survived by her partner, Rudy, her daughters Launie and Twila (husband Steve Dainard) and her son Chalmus (wife Joanne Wannop), as well as many, many grandchildren, great grand children, nieces and nephews

The funeral service will be held

at 11:30 September 3, 2017

at Halina Senior Centre in Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army.
