Samuel Nicholl

1939 – 2010

Sam was born in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland on February 5, 1939. He came to Canada with his family in 1977. In 1979, Sam and his family moved to Mackenzie, where he started work with BCFP. Over the next 21 years, Sam made many friends in Mackenzie and witnessed many changes to the town. Sam always had a smile, liked to go fishing or spend a Saturday afternoon with the “boys” (you all know who you are!). He retired in 2000, moving to Cranbrook and then Vernon in 2001. Sam was devoted to his family, never was he too busy to spend time with his children, grandchildren or great grandchildren. Sam passed away peacefully on April 25, 2010, in Vernon, BC, surrounded by family, after a 3 year battle with Alzheimer’s.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Agnes; son Charles (Cherry), daughter Cheryl (Terry); grandchildren Amanda (Travis) Lepoint, Lindsay Lawrence, Charisse (Jeremy) Lim, Kayla (Jeremy) Lawrence, Joshua Lawrence, Siobhan LeBlanc, Troy Olver; great grandchildren; Samantha, Dara-lynn, Annataya, Ayden, Sadie, Dakota, Natalia, and Autumn.

Service will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon, BC on Sunday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating.
