Sarah Dobslaff was born on June 18th, 1918 in Three Hills, Alberta, daughter of Gottlieb & Christina Maerz and passed away on February 12th, 2008 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 89 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, William (Denise) Dobslaff of Vernon, B.C.; her daughter, Ruby (Michael) Sakevich of DeGraff, Ohio; four grandchildren, Anna (Brandon) Winfry, Anja Sakevich, Mary Dobslaff and Patrick Dobslaff; two sisters, May (Albert) Hixt of Calgary, Alberta and Lily Stickel of Three Hills, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph on December 27th, 1993; one grandson, Austin B. Sakevich; three sisters, Daisy Dreger, Pauline Tobler and Eva Dreger; and two brothers, Alfred Maerz and Art Maerz.
Sarah lived in various communities in B.C. before coming to Armstrong in 1962 and then to Vernon in 1966. She loved to go for coffee every morning, was often seen going for walks around town and was a very loyal fan of the Vernon Vipers hockey team.
The Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, February 18th, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Al Perry officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. At the conclusion of the Reception Sarah will be taken to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Rudolph.
