– Loving mother, grandmother,

great-grandmother and friend.

Born March 23, 1916, Beatty, Saskatchewan, oldest daughter of Archie and Luella Ferguson. Passed away January 13, 2006, Vernon, British Columbia, aged 89. She was enlisted in the Air Force where she received the nickname “Fergie.” Her main profession was teaching which she did mainly in Saskatchewan. She married Leagh Cross and had two daughters, Arleigh and Mary Jane (adopted). She was a proud grandma and great-grandma and loved all children, always trying to teach them. Her students loved her and some of them continued to write to her long after they left her class. She retired from teaching at age 60 and she and her sister Gladys travelled extensively. Though she always loved the prairies, she moved from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to Vernon, B.C., to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Sharie stayed very active until her 88th year and enjoyed walking and visiting as she went. She loved her independence and made many friends, both young and old. She had a lot of knowledge which she shared with everyone. She will be missed, not only by her family, but by everyone who knew her. She spent her last year at Olive Grove Senior Home.
