Sharon Hoffman

In loving memory ~
Sharon Hoffman, born in Medicine Hat, Alt., passed away on February 8, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her loving children Blaine Hoffman and Jodie Reeder, by her daughter-in-law Sheila Saunders, son-in-law Andrew Reeder, grandchildren Erin and Matthew, and brother Barry Prouty.
Sharon grew up in the town of Armstrong on her parent's dairy farm. After high school, she attended nursing school in Kamloops. She married and tirelessly raised a family while helping to maintain the farm in Creighton Valley. Later they started the Squaw Valley Guest Ranch near Mabel Lake.
After moving closer to Lumby. Sharon's next stage of life involved running a successful business, Frontier Video for over twenty years. Her many customers and employees remember the caring and friendly way she treated all that entered. She had a passion for gardening, and she was known for her beautiful garden on Mabel Lake Road where people would stop to take pictures.
In 2003, Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer. With courage and an unwavering positive attitude, she fought the disease and eventually beat it. Sharon became an avid dragon boater and an integral part of her team, The Buoyant Buddies, for many years. She traveled around the world to participate in festivals, as well as serving as president. She loved being out on the water and being part of the team, where she made many lifelong friends and found support and laughter.
She had a special place in her heart for her two grandchildren Matthew and Erin and loved to spend time with them swimming at the lake, and baking in the kitchen. Her children Blaine and Jodie remember her patient, selfless nature, and her ability to cherish and live in the moment.
She was both a patient and volunteer at the Cancer Center in Vernon and appreciated the treatment she received there. Her family is also very thankful for the special care she received during her final days at the North Okanagan Hospice Society.
Those who knew her, even for a short time, would agree that she was a shining light. Her unfailing optimism was an inspiration, and her infectious smile made her a joy to be around.
She will be remembered so fondly, and missed dearly, by so many close friends and family that she touched during her full and happy life.
There will be a short service at the Armstrong United Church at 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the hall afterward on May 4, 2023. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at armstrong@cypressfuneral.ca.
