We regret to announce the death on January 17, 2015 at Noric House in Vernon, of Shigemi “Shig” Tabata at the age of 83 years.

Shig was born in Steveston, BC and was a resident of Vernon for many years. He was well-known as the operator of a TV repair business and through his longtime involvement in slow-pitch and five-pin bowling.

Shig will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 53 years, Toshiko, and their daughter, Tracey of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his parents, Hyozo and Shizu, brother Makoto, and sister, Sumiko. He is survived by siblings; Susumu (Barbara), Shoji (Irene), Emiko, Mariko, Sachiko (Geoff), Takao (Sheila), Kumiko (Don), and Kazuko (Jack) and their families.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gilhooly and the staff at Noric House for Shig’s care. In lieu of flowers or koden, donations would be appreciated to the Noric House Care Fund or a charity of your choice.
