Shirley went to her Lord on Sunday, April 8th at the wonderful, gentle, miraculous Hospice House. Shirley passed peacefully with her daughters Sandra and Tammy, granddaughter Kimberley and son-in-law John by her side. Shirley’s friend Kathy sent her to the angels whispering words of solace, love, and goodbyes in her ear. Shirley is riding in a pink cadillac of love with purple wings with her love Craig by her side.

Shirley had a wonderfully clear presence of life. She could laugh for hours, listen to a friend with troubles, and give all who knew her a sense of welcome. She would try very hard to not pass judgment, she would pray to have the grace of forgiveness and she did.

Our Shirley was a wonderful, carefree, stubborn, and generous woman who left us too soon, but left us when she was ready. Shirley will make the sun shine through a cloudy day. She will touch us softly on days of stress and reassure us. She will be with us on our greatest days of joy and smile down on us. She will share her gentleness with us all forever, just listen with your heart and you will hear her whisper:

“Be kind, be at peace, forgive, and enjoy your lives to their fullest.

Believe in love, for you will find it in the most unlikely places.

Be true to yourself for this is what you should live for.

Be kind to all because kindness is lacking in this world.

Be free to believe in any faith but faith in humankind is all there is in the end.”

Shirley’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 15th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Vernon Lodge Hotel, where she worked for 28 years. Please join us to say “Aloha, peace be with her and Rock on Shirley!” In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Hospice House, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.

Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 250-542-0155.
