It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Signe Amies at Noric House, Vernon on Saturday, March 15th, 2008, six days after her 92nd birthday. Signe was predeceased by her husband Don and is lovingly remembered by her three sons and their spouses; Wayne (Donna), Denny (Bonnie), Barry (Donna), eight grandchildren; Cindy, Mitch, Lorne, Brian, Ralph, Rona, Nicole, Tyson and five great-grandchildren, Nicole, Lindsey, Josh, Tim and Jayden.
Signe was born in Lillehammer, Norway and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1928 to reside in Spalding, Saskatchewan. Signe, Don and the boys moved to McBride, B.C. in 1957 where they owned and operated an Esso service station until 1978 during which time they retired and moved to Vernon.
Signe spent the last three years at Noric House where she enjoyed singing, dancing and visiting with the residents and staff. The family very much appreciates the staff at Noric House and the compassionate care given to Signe.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Pleasant Valley Funeral Chapel for a Service of Remembrance on Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial donations in memory of Signe may do so to the Vernon & District Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B. C. V1T 1S4.
