February 8, 1946 - June 14, 2018
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Simon John Leonard Evans on June 14, 2018 in Vernon, BC after a hard-fought battle with cancer and Alzheimer's. Simon was born on February 8, 1946 in Liskeard, Cornwall, UK and after growing up in England he emigrated to Canada in 1974 with his wife and two young children. It was here in Canada that Simon had a very successful business career.
For five decades, Simon served as a builder and leader of better business-from the billion-dollar worlds of Chevron and 7-11 to the non-profit realms of hospitality (BCRFA) and human resources (HRMA). Simon had many interests and passions throughout life, including music, theatre, poetry, golf, travelling and photography. Simon lived a very happy life and was always surrounded by a loving happy family and friends. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile and passion for service to others.
Simon will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife Diana, to whom he was married for 50 years, children Jonathan (Monica) and Kathryn (Arlon), brothers Roderick and Patrick and grandchildren Maya, Lauren, Tessa, Nathan and Alexa as well as many other extended family members.
He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Ida Evans. We would like to give sincere thanks to Dr. Humphreys, all the staff at the Vernon Cancer Clinic, all the caring staff at the North Okanagan Hospice Society, Dr. Sharma, Dr. Bosma and Michelle Miller for all their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in Simon's memory to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia. There will be a Memorial Service held for Simon at 3:30pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the All Saints Anglican Church (3205 27th Street, Vernon, BC).
