Sister Regina Krushen
Sister Regina Krushen gave her final “yes” to God in death on Monday, May 19th, 2003 at the Abbey of St. Walburga in Virginia Dale, Colorado. Sister Regina was born Mary Jane Krushen September 7, 1959 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. She was the third of four children born to Lawrence and Rose Krushen. Predeceased by her mother Rose in 1985, she is survived by her father Larry, sister Karen (Don and Michael), brother Rick (Lisa, Jessica and Kimberly), and her sister Juliann (Randy). She graduated from Kal Secondary in Vernon and studied Fine Arts at UBC. After her first visit to the Abbey in 1991 she was convinced this was where God wished her to live out the rest of her life. On May 21, 1998 she professed her final vows and took the religious name of Regina (Latin for Queen of Peace). In her years at the Abbey, Sister Regina served her community, friends and retreatants in many ways; but most of all, in her patient acceptance of pain and weakness from the effects of Lupus. She allowed the Lord’s will to be done unto her! Funeral mass and Christian burial were celebrated May 23, 2003 in the Abbey Chapel and Cemetery in Colorado. A memorial mass was celebrated at Holy Rosary Cathedral in Vancouver on May 31, 2003. Sister Regina your work is done. We love you! Now rest in peace!
