Siv Kristina Andersson died July 25, 2014 at Vernon Jubilee
Hospital. Siv was born in Arsunda, Sweden on April 15, 1936.
She is survived by her husband Sven and her 3
daughters: Diane, Irene and Kim, and her two brothers Stig and Knut Hedin, both still living in Arsunda.
Siv bravely packed up her 2 year old daughter, Diane, and immigrated to British Columbia with her husband Sven in 1960, first settling in Vancouver where Irene and Kim were born. The family then moved to the Okanagan Valley in 1967 where Siv and Sven have lived since, except for many great winters spent in Baja California, Mexico.
Siv developed many wonderful friendships wherever she went. She had a great heart and made everyone comfortable with her infectious laugh, wry sense of humour and her wonderful cooking and baking. Her warmth and compassion touched the hearts of many.
One of her favourite projects was knitting hundreds of toques for the children on the cancer ward at BC Children’s Hospital.
Siv will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She will always be remembered and loved by her husband of 56 years, their 3 daughters and especially her grandchildren and their friends, who all knew her as Mormor, Swedish for Mother’s mother.
A Memorial will be held in the tea room of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
