It is with great sadness that the family of Sophie Nowoselski announces that this special soul has gone to meet her Lord on September 20, 2009.
Sophie Nowoselski was survived by 1 sister (Rosie Chaput). Her children Emily Gobbett (Tony), David Nowoselski (Yvette), Shirley Cook (Gary), Donald (Mary), Terrance Nowoselski (Lorna). Her grandchildren Carolyn Veitch (David), Cary Gobbett (Corrine), Carl Gobbett ( Jacquline), Barbrara Katenith (Rex), Lynn Crawford, Cindy Chyzowski (Dave), Sherry Anderson, Debbie Cook, Doug Black, Sandi Louie (Carl ), Tracy Lore ( Russel ), Cara Nowoselski, Devin Nowoselski, Carman Nowoselski. Her great-grandchildren Jennifer Holt (Craig ), Christopher Veitch ( Stacey ), James Carr ( Christie ), Andrew Carr ( Jolene ), Curtis Gobbett ( Melanie ), Nicholas Gobbett, Kelsey Kalenith, Tawyna Kalenith, Bryce Kalenith, David Crawford, Jenna Crawford, Nicholas Chyzowski, Ryan Chyzowski, Tia Lore, Chad Lore, Jaye Lore. Her great-great-grandchildren Brooklyn Carr, Jordon Carr, Makenzie Veitch and Kaiden Gobbett. Sophie leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as friends.
Sophie was pre-deceased by her husband Bill (1961) and her 1st born Nicholas (1935) as well as 4 sisters and her brother Mike.
She was born and married in Prud’Homme, Saskatchewan and farmed with her husband Bill Nowoselski till 1946, where she gave birth to a son, Nicholas, daughter, Emily and son David. Sophie and Bill moved to Saskatoon on McMillan Avenue where a daughter Shirley and a son Donald were born. She then moved to Sutherland Saskatchewan where her son Terrance was born. Sophie lived in Saskatoon from 1946 to 1984 and in Sparwood from 1984 to 2005. She moved to Vernon in 2005 to 2009 living in Heron Grove Home in Vernon. She spent most of her life and energy with her children, and grandchildren and looking after her large family as well as her many activities in the Catholic Church, cooking and baking for the priests in Sparwood for 10 years.
Services for Sophie will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St James Catholic Church in Vernon. A celebration of Sophie’s life will be held in the basement of St James Catholic Church following Services.
The family would like to extend their most sincere THANK YOU to Dr. Schuch and all the nursing staff in Emergency and on 3rd floor west of Vernon Jubilee Hospital for there care and consideration shown to our mother Sophie. Also a sincere THANK YOU to the Heron Grove staff for their vigilance and care shown to Sophie in the last 3 years.
