STANLEY GILBERT BARON of Vernon, BC died peacefully at Hospice House on December 13, 2003 at the age of 80 years. Stan was born in Poland and came to Canada with his family settling on a farm at Mundare, Alberta. He served in the Royal Canadian Airforce in World War II. On January 23, 1947 Stan joined Canadian Pacific Airlines. During his 35 year career with the airline he worked in several cities in Northern BC, Whitehorse, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Calgary. After retiring, Stan and Lorna moved to Vernon in 1985. Stan is survived by his loving wife Lorna, his children Lynda Trenholm (Gordon), Jean McKenzie (Robert) of Winnipeg, MB., Robert of Calgary, AB., and Barbara McAllaster (Robert) of Kailua, Hawaii; grandchildren Robert, Julie, Daniel, and Mary Jane of Winnipeg, and Mitchell, Kiana, Chris, and Sarah of Kailua, Hawaii. Stan is also survived by his sisters Jo Salamandick, Nell Kureluk, and his brother, Robert (Jeanette) of Edmonton, AB. and many nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his parents Karol and Anne Baron, his infant son David and brother Bernard. Prayers will be held at St.James Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St.James Roman Catholic (2607-27th Street), Thursday, December 18, 2003 at 10:00 am. with Father Martin Peyton presiding. There will be a Memorial Mass in Winnipeg at Christ the King Parish (847 St. Mary’s Road) at 7:00 pm on December 22, 2003.
