Stanley Laviolette 1924-2006
We regret to announce the passing of our dear father, Stanley Laviolette, on Sat., May 13th, 2006 at the age of 82 at Heritage Place in Vernon, BC.
Stan was born March 1924. Only son of George and Jean Laviolette, Stanley was privileged to work many years alongside his father. He run cattle on the farm and run a small mill operation on his land on Creighton Valley Rd., Lumby, BC. When the farm sold he worked at Bell Pole, Lumby, BC where he enjoyed the companionship of the fellow workers. For a few years he moved to Vernon, BC and resided on Okanagan Lake but later returned to build a home overlooking the former family farm. When Stan retired from Bell Pole he moved to beautiful Nakusp, BC. He enjoyed many years of its’ famous Hot Spring, beautiful scenery and his home overlooking the lake. He spent many days fishing with friends he had come to know there. His final years brought him back to Vernon, BC where he resided at Heritage Place and received wonderful care and comfort there.
Stan was predeceased by his father, George Laviolette in Feb. 1970, his mother Jean Laviolette in May 1931 and his grandson Darren Summerfelt in 1988. He is survived by his son Duane (Sue) Laviolette, grandson Kyle (Nico) Laviolette, great granddaughter Tehya Nai, great grandson Noah Kyle, grandson Kevin (Mary) Laviolette; daughter Joy (Arnold) Summerfelt, grandson David (Wendy) Summerfelt, great granddaughter Kaila Carole-Lynn-Jean Summerfelt; Mother of his children Lillian (George) Holman, later in life partner Lea Laviolette and special daughter-in-law Nancy (Don) House.
Till we meet again on the other side, you will be forever in our hearts!
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 18th at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 4303 Pleasant Valley Rd. at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Hugh Stewart officiating. A tea will follow the service in the Tea Room. Cremation will precede service with interment to follow at Lumby Cemetery. Friends wishing to do so may make donations to a charity of their choice.
