Stella Chemko

Passed away peacefully Friday, December 21, 2007 at Moog and Friends Hospice in Penticton. Born April 14, 1925 in Hazel Dell, Saskatchewan. Stella was very proud to serve as an officer in the armed forces where she was stationed in Suffield AB until the war ended. She moved to Kelvington and married Steve Chemko on June 25, 1945. Steve and Stella settled in Vernon BC where they raised their 4 children, Patricia, Richard, Debora , and Steven. She is predeceased by her daughter Debbie in June, 1994 and husband Steve in April 1998. Stella was blessed with a second marriage to Jack Thomas on May 11, 2001 residing in Penticton. Stella faced the news of her illness with courage and a commitment to visit with family and friends while she could. She flew her 2 grandchildren to Penticton from North Carolina (Alisha Harp and Trinity Carmicheal), spent time with her son Steven for Thanksgiving, and had many precious visits with her daughter Pat from Calgary, her son Rick from Vernon, her grandchildren Megan Chemko and Darci Carrier from Penticton, as well as great grandchildren Noah, Kennedy, and Parker Carrier. A celebration in honor of Stella will take place at Bethel

Chapel in Penticton on Saturday, December 29 at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers it is Stella’s wish that donations be made to the Cancer fund. Many thanks to Dr. Johnston and the wonderful staff at Moog and Friends.
