We regret to announce the peaceful passing of SYLVIA RYDZIK on December 23rd, 2016, at Hospice House in Vernon at the age of 85 years. Born in Vegreville, AB, Sylvia and her family moved to Vernon, November 1944. This is where she met her life partner, Edward Rydzik. They were married in August of 1948. In search of work and to be with Edward’s family, they briefly moved to Toronto where they had their first born. But the Vernon location and lifestyle tugged at their hearts, so in late 1949, they moved back to Vernon.

Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Edward Rydzik, who passed away in November 1997, and by her brothers, Reverend Father Sylvester Kuzel, OSBM and Peter Kuzel. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons: Henry (Suzanne) of Ottawa, and Christopher (Diana) of Vancouver; her grandchildren: Lisa (Richard), Michael and Marc-Andre (Maryam); and great-grandchildren: Alexandre, Emanuelle, and Caleb; and many extended family members.

Prayers will be recited at Saint James Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4th, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Saint James Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Dale Normandeau, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Vernon City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Sylvia to the BC Cancer Foundation.
