Teresa Alice Edwards, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 1st, 2003.
Teresa was born on Nov. 12, 1927 in Portland, Oregon to Frank and Birdie Fleming. The family moved back to the family farm in Ponoka, Alberta in 1928 where they lived until 1945, when they moved to Haney, B.C.Teresa was employed as a telephone operator and in 1949 she married Doug Edwards. They spent the early years of their marriage in Haney where Doug worked in the lumber industry. In 1965 they built the Golden Rim Motor Inn in Golden, B.C. which they operated together until Doug’s death in 1979. Teresa took over and worked tirelessly to make the business a success until 1989 when she retired and moved to Vernon.
Predeceased by her husband, Doug, brothers Alvin and Harvey, grandson Matthew. She is survivied by her four children Doug and Allyson of Golden, Bryce (Sally) of Kamloops, Eileen (Rob Elliot) of Delta. Grandchildren Patti Edwards, Jessica and Kaitlin Elliot. Brothers Ralph, Ronald and Dale Fleming and sisters Lorraine and Marilyn, sister-in-law Ellen Johnston of Richmond.
Teresa loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time at home in her garden. She enjoyed hiking, travelling and spending time with family and friends. She will be missed by many as she was a sincere and genuine lady. Celebration of her life will be held Sat., Sept. 6th at the PLEASANT VALLEY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
